Kajol defines feminism with a powerful pic of the two most important women in her life

When two powerful personalities are captured in one frame, it’s a priceless moment that needs to be shared. If you haven’t checked it out already, Kajol has shared a pic of the two very important women in her lives – her grand mother and her great grandmother. “My great grand mother and my grandmother … aji! Two women who taught me about what feminism actually means without ever discussing it.” Kajol captions it. It’s a beautiful pic of the two women who back in their days were renowned artists. For those who don’t know, Kajol’s grandmother is Shobana Samarth. She was an actor, producer and a director who acted in Hindi and Marathi cinema. In 1935,  she starred in  her first Hindi film,  Nigahen Nafrat. She is best known for her performance as Sita in Ram Rajya. She was conferred with a special award by Filmfare in 1007 as an acknowledgement to her contribution in arts.

Her great grandmother was Rattan Bai who was another actress and singer of her time. As per reports, when talkie films came into being, singing was added talent. Rattan Bai was knwon to be a= talented singer whose not only sang bhajans but also composed them. She debuted in cinema in her 40s with Swarajyachya Seemewar where she played Shivaji’s mother. In today’s times, when the definition of feminism is  skewed here is Kajol redefining it in a powerful way.

In other news, Kajol is shooting for Eela, an Ajay Devgn production. She will play the role of a single mother. The movie will revolve around her life with her son. It is touted to be a higly emotional story with strong characters.  The movie will be directed by Pradeep Sarkar. “She’s an awesome actress who picks up a role and owns it. She has her own style, charm and a particular way of talking that enhances the character.” said the director while speaking with a leading tabloid. The movie is adaptation of a GUjarati play Beta Kaagdo.
