Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s much-awaited release of the year – October finally hit the cinemas this weekend. As the film touched its day two – the collections were seen having a great jump. October witnessed a tremendous growth on day two and minted Rs 7.47 crore at the box-office, bringing it to a total of Rs 12.51 crore. Commenting on the same, a popular trade analyst tweeted, “#October shows a SUPER 48.21% GROWTH on Sat. Metros/plexes are clearly contributing heavily to the revenue. Should continue the upward trend on Sun. Fri Rs 5.04 crore, Sat Rs 7.47 crore. Total: Rs 12.51 crore. India biz.”
It’s expected by the end of its first week, the film will easily garner Rs 20 crore at the box-office. On casting Varun and Banita in the film, director Shoojit Sircar told, “That day I was rushing to wrap up things before flying off to Kolkata when Varun called asking if we could meet. Since he lived in Juhu, I wondered if he could come over immediately. He’d just woken up and told me he was not dressed. I told him not to bother, we’re pretty casual around here. For a year we had been auditioning newcomers for the leading man’s role in October and suddenly there he was in front of me. Varun looked 20-21 and his eyes reflected honesty.”
Talking about debutant Banita Sandhu, he said, “She doesn’t just speak, she speaks sense and is the kind of girl you could easily fall in love with”.
